What Makes Learning at MIS International School Pattaya Different?

ที่มา: The Pattaya News

At MIS International School Pattaya, learning extends beyond traditional classroom lessons. Students of all ages are encouraged to take part, ask questions, explore ideas and apply what they learn through practical experiences, supported by teachers who take the time to know them as individuals.

MIS follows the English National Curriculum for students aged 2 to 18 and is home to more than 1,000 students from over 30 nationalities. The school is set in Nongprue, Banglamung, on the eastern side of Pattaya, on an 11.4-acre green campus. Mature trees, open lawns, sports facilities and an on-site farm provide space for students to learn outdoors, while the school remains closely connected to Pattaya’s international community. The setting offers a calm, welcoming atmosphere that supports both academic success and personal wellbeing.

Teachers place importance on understanding each student’s needs and strengths, offering guidance and support throughout their learning journey. Alongside academic development, classroom activities, projects and experiences beyond the classroom give students opportunities to build communication, collaboration, problem-solving and independent learning skills. The school’s aim is to create an environment where students can grow into confident, capable and engaged learners.

This approach is reflected across the age groups.

Early Years. Young children learn through play and exploration. The school’s first Early Years Trial Class on Saturday, 24 October, for children aged 1.5 to 4, takes the theme A World of Discovery, with activities focused on nature, science, numbers and outdoor exploration. Places are limited so that each child receives personal attention.

Primary. The campus itself supports hands-on learning. Students can learn about sustainability and food production at the on-site farm, and learning that moves between the classroom, the grounds and the farm helps bring subjects to life. More than 300 co-curricular activities, including Engineering Club, Minecraft Club and Olympic Maths, allow students to explore their interests further.

Secondary. Students have access to a dedicated STEAM building for science, maths and computing, and a choice of more than 20 IGCSE and 30 AS and A-Level subjects. Spanish and now joins English, Thai and Chinese in the World Languages Programme, and university and careers guidance begins from Year 11. In 2026, MIS students achieved 83% of IGCSE grades at A*–C, and the school continues to support students in applying to universities in the UK, the US and across Asia.

Behind these experiences is a committed teaching team. At the September Open House, families had the opportunity to meet teachers from the UK, the US, Europe and beyond, together with newly appointed colleagues joining the school. Their experience and range of backgrounds bring a broad perspective to the classroom. MIS has also shared on social media its structured pathway from Early Years through to A-Level, in which each stage of learning builds on the last.

The school is led by Executive Head of School Dr Connie, who holds a doctorate in educational leadership. Reflecting on the purpose of education today, Dr Connie describes it as “about learning how to think, innovate, collaborate across cultures, and navigate challenges with resilience and integrity.”

Families in Pattaya who would like to learn more about learning at MIS are warmly invited to visit the campus, meet the teaching team and see school life first-hand. A visit is often the best way to appreciate how these elements come together day to day.
