BANGLAMUNG: An unidentified man was found dead beneath a bridge on Route 36 in Banglamung district on Saturday afternoon, with police examining CCTV footage and awaiting a full autopsy to determine how he died.
Police Lt. Col. Surasing Sukmak, deputy superintendent for investigation at Huai Yai Police Station, received the report at 2:30 p.m. on September 19th. Officers, rescue workers, and medical staff were sent to the scene along Route 36 under the ring-road bridge heading toward Sattahip, in the Huai Yai subdistrict.
The body of a man estimated to be 35 to 40 years old was found lying face down at the roadside. He was wearing shorts, a black short-sleeved shirt and a black arm sleeve. His clothing suggested he may have worked on boats.
Preliminary examination found injuries to both legs that appeared consistent with broken bones, as well as a large wound under the chin. Officers secured the area while doctors confirmed the man was dead. Medics said the injuries could be consistent with a fall from height, but the official cause of death has not been determined and will require a detailed autopsy.
Investigators from Huai Yai Police Station are searching the surrounding area and reviewing CCTV along nearby routes for clues to the man’s identity and what happened before the body was found.
Tianchai Saeko, 33, who discovered the body, said he was driving past when he saw people gathered at the roadside. Approaching, he first thought a black object was a garbage bag. After noticing blood, he stopped and found it was a person.
He said he checked for breathing and a pulse, found none, and immediately called police. He described being shocked but said he approached because he feared the person might still have been alive and in need of help.
Police have not ruled out an accident or other causes. Officers are gathering evidence, reviewing camera footage and trying to identify the deceased while waiting for autopsy results before issuing an official conclusion.
