A pickup truck struck and killed two German tourists on a marked pedestrian crossing in Khao Lak before the driver fled the scene, local police said.

The incident occurred near the Orchid shop in Moo 7 in Khuek Khak. Police Lt. Col. Chokdee Saengmanee of the Khao Lak Police Station responded after receiving reports of a vehicle striking pedestrians and then leaving the area.

At the scene, officers found a pool of blood approximately 10 meters from the zebra crossing. The two victims, later identified as Mr. Wilbert, 64, and Mrs. Cabriela, 63, both German nationals, were rushed by good Samaritans and emergency personnel to the Khao Lak Medical Center. Both later died from their injuries.

Witnesses reported that the vehicle involved was a pickup truck. After the collision, the driver continued toward Thai Mueang district.

Police photographed the scene, prepared a detailed sketch of the location, and launched an investigation. Detectives are reviewing closed-circuit television footage along the suspected escape route in an effort to identify and locate the driver.

Medical staff and police conducted an autopsy at the Khao Lak Medical Center. Authorities have opened a formal case and are treating the matter as a hit-and-run. Officers said they are working urgently to track down the person responsible and bring them to justice.
