– Officers inspected entertainment businesses on South Pattaya’s Walking Street on the evening of October 29th, focusing on drugs and illegal firearms.

– The operation followed national policy from Assistant National Police Chief Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong Phipan and included random urine screening of staff.

– Participating agencies included Tourist Police Division 1, Banglamung district officials, the Pattaya police inspection committee and Region 2 narcotics officers.

Walking Street: Tourist Police and partner agencies conducted an intensive inspection of entertainment venues along South Pattaya’s Walking Street on the evening of October 29th, 2026, with random urine tests of staff as part of broader drug and firearms controls.

The operation began at 7:00 p.m. under Pol. Maj. Gen. Surapong Thaiprasert, commander of Tourist Police Division 1. He was joined by Mr. Phichanon Thaweesuk, permanent secretary of Banglamung district, Ms. Amporn Kaewsaeng, chair of the police administration inspection and monitoring committee at Pattaya City Police Station, along with Pattaya tourist police and officers from the Office of the Narcotics Control Board under Provincial Police Region 2.

Teams focused on entertainment establishments in the Walking Street area. The checks followed the policy of Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong Phipan, assistant national police chief, prioritising the prevention and suppression of narcotics and efforts to stop illegal firearms from entering venues. Officers carried out random urine screening of staff at multiple businesses in the popular tourist zone to monitor for drug use and support overall public safety.

The coordinated presence of district, police and narcotics agencies is intended to raise security standards and maintain confidence among Thai and international visitors in one of Pattaya’s busiest nightlife districts. No specific results from the urine tests or any seizures were detailed in the initial report of the operation.

Such multi-agency checks on entertainment venues have been regular in the Pattaya area. On October 19th, more than 50 officers inspected three venues and reported no violations of identity rules, drug laws or fire-safety requirements after random urine tests and document checks, as detailed by The Pattaya News.

Earlier in the month, a Region 2-led inspection of the Fin UP nightclub on Pattaya 3rd Road found six patrons with preliminary positive drug screens. A January inspection of agogos on Walking Street itself also involved staff urine tests that returned negative results.

Authorities have repeatedly focused on compliance with the national “5-Free” standards for entertainment venues: Free of drugs, weapons, human trafficking, underage involvement and other prohibited activities, while continuing routine and targeted operations to support Pattaya’s tourism image.
