Sri Racha: Residents of parts of the Sri Racha district have begun buying water tanks and storage containers after the Provincial Waterworks Authority’s local branch announced a 48-hour interruption from November 2nd to November 4th in some widespread parts of the district to connect a large transmission pipe.
On October 30th, 2026, local media reported that people across the district were preparing for the planned shutdown. Mr. Kittipong Saengsuwan, 40, said he felt concerned after learning of the cut because he lives in a rental room with limited space and cannot store large quantities of water. He noted that the absence of supply would affect daily activities including bathing, laundry and cooking.
Mrs. Duangjai Khamjaroen, 68, said she decided to buy a plastic tank to collect and store water. While acknowledging the inconvenience, she said she understood the need to upgrade the system to support community growth and address future pressure problems. She added that infrastructure improvements are necessary and that cooperation can resolve temporary difficulties.
Dr. Nat Na Kakon, manager of PWA Sri Racha branch, said the project involves cutting and connecting an 800-millimetre water transmission pipe in front of the Nong Kho treatment plant. The work is intended to increase transmission capacity, meet rising demand, strengthen system reliability so water can be supplied continuously and adequately, and improve long-term service for residents.
Preparations are already under way. Pits have been opened, pipe sections prepared and materials staged in advance. Repair teams will work continuously for 24 hours to complete the job as quickly as possible, with an additional 12-hour contingency buffer in case of unexpected site problems, given the size and complexity of the pipe. The shutdown is scheduled from 6:00 a.m. on November 2nd, 2026, to 6:00 a.m. on November 4, 2026.
PWA has asked affected residents to check their stored water and prepare sufficient containers for the full period. To reduce hardship, the branch will open seven water distribution points where people can bring containers to collect water between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. for two days. Approximately 15 water trucks from PWA Si Racha, local authorities and the Navy will also deliver water to areas in need during the work.
Water infrastructure incidents have occurred previously in the district. In March 2026 a large raw-water transmission pipe burst near a tire shop in Sri Racha, causing extensive damage estimated at over 500,000 baht.
