Sri Racha— Queen Savang Vadhana Memorial Hospital has held a wreath-laying ceremony for Navamindra Maharaj Day, the annual remembrance of His Royal Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great.
Dr. Wanchai Naiyarakseree, a deputy director, presided in the second-floor hall of the Si Savarindhira 150-year memorial building. Medical staff, the nursing division, and Red Cross volunteers laid wreaths. The presiding officer then lit incense and candles at a small golden offering set, spoke in remembrance of the late King, and joined the gathering in 89 seconds of silence before the royal portrait.
The hospital said administrators, doctors, nurses, and other staff attended. Royal portraits of His Royal Majesty King Bhumibol the Great were presented to five patients.
Navamindra Maharaj Day is observed every October 13, the date of His Royal Majesty King Bhumibol’s death in 2016. The 89-second silence is the form used at official ceremonies across the country. The hospital, a Thai Red Cross facility on Jermjompol Road, said it was marking the day because of the late King’s support for the Red Cross and for the hospital itself.
The same building was used in August for a separate tribute to Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother and president of the Thai Red Cross, ahead of Mother’s Day.
