Sri Racha: A pair of factory workers on a day off landed an unexpected haul along the Sri Racha shoreline after two casts of a net filled nearly two buckets with large tilapia.
On October 4th, 2026, a young man was seen casting a net into a dense school of tilapia swimming near the surface at the mouth of a Sri Racha municipal drainage pipe that empties into Sri Racha Bay. Locals believe heavy rain upstream sent water surging through canals and the drainage system, carrying tilapia that normally live in the waterways out to the pipe outlet by the sea.
The man, who had come with his girlfriend to fish and relax, did not wait. After only two casts of the net they had brought, they pulled in large tilapia, many bigger than a palm, nearly filling two plastic buckets. The catch drew a crowd of fellow factory workers, who were visibly delighted.
The couple said they did not plan to sell the fish. They intended to cook some for the family, dry part of the haul to keep for later, and share the rest with relatives and coworkers at the factory, calling it a stroke of natural luck on a holiday.
