PATTAYA, Thailand – A seven-year-old boy was rushed to a local hospital after nearly drowning at Pattaya Beach during heavy rain on the evening of October 22nd, 2026, following a rescue by a jet ski operator and emergency responders.

The incident was reported at approximately 6:09 p.m. near Pattaya Beach Soi 6. Initial reports said the boy was struggling after becoming submerged in the sea, prompting a bystander operating a jet ski to bring him back to shore and alert rescue personnel.

The child was reportedly coughing up water and breathing weakly when rescuers arrived. Emergency personnel provided breathing assistance before transporting him to Bangkok Hospital Pattaya for urgent medical treatment and close monitoring. His condition following admission was not immediately available.

According to the jet ski operator who assisted in the rescue, the area where the boy went under contained a deep depression in the seabed. The exact cause of the incident has not been independently confirmed.

The bystander also said lifeguards had warned beachgoers to leave the water because of the heavy rain and approaching darkness. The child reportedly continued swimming before the incident occurred.

The case shows the dangers of entering the sea during adverse weather conditions, particularly when visibility is deteriorating and underwater conditions may be difficult to assess.

Parents and guardians are urged to supervise children closely around the water and never allow them to swim unattended. Beachgoers should also follow lifeguards’ instructions and leave the sea when warned to do so, especially during heavy rain or near nightfall.

Even seemingly shallow coastal water can become dangerous when there are sudden changes in depth, strong currents, or poor visibility. Drowning can occur within minutes, making immediate rescue and emergency medical assistance critical.

The Pattaya News previously reported on a separate near-drowning incident at Pattaya Beach in March, when a 16-year-old boy was rescued after being held underwater during horseplay with friends.
