East Thailand-

Pol. Lt. Gen. Wasan Techa-akkharakasem, commissioner of Provincial Police Region 2, chaired an urgent meeting on Thursday at the third-floor conference room of Provincial Police Region 2 headquarters to review flooding across the region’s area of responsibility.

Deputy commissioners, provincial police commanders from all eight provinces, and officers responsible for disaster prevention and relief attended the meeting. Participants adopted a 15-step flood response plan covering assistance during flooding, traffic management, delivery of essential supplies, and recovery after waters recede. Police were instructed to coordinate closely with local administration and related agencies.

Pol. Lt. Gen. Wasan said the meeting followed the policy of Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Samran Nuanma, who have stressed the need to address public hardship caused by flooding. He called in the deputy commissioners and the eight provincial commanders to assess the situation and set a systematic approach to public assistance.

Reports identified three provinces requiring special monitoring and support: Prachin Buri, Nakhon Nayok, and Rayong.

In Prachin Buri, particularly Si Maha Phot district, residents and police officers have been affected. The provincial commander was ordered to deploy a royal mobile kitchen to prepare meals for those in need and to coordinate with the provincial governor and relevant agencies so relief can be integrated and delivered quickly.

In Nakhon Nayok, Ongkharak district, a low-lying area, some villages saw floodwater reach about three meters. Levels have begun to fall, but housing and damaged areas still require restoration. Police were ordered to assist residents with recovery alongside local officials so people can return to normal life as soon as possible.

In Rayong, Klaeng district and parts of Mueang Rayong district were affected. A police station in Klaeng was flooded, and residents faced hardship. The Rayong provincial commander has already mobilized officers to work with the provincial governor on relief and to ease the situation.

Pol. Lt. Gen. Wasan added that conditions in five provinces have begun to improve, but forecasts call for more rain in several areas over the next three to five days. Water released from Nakhon Nayok could also add to the impact. He ordered every unit to remain fully prepared, especially for public assistance, traffic management, travel facilitation, and the timely delivery of consumer goods.

All areas were told to monitor conditions closely and respond immediately if incidents occur. The 15-step plan covers preparedness before flooding, assistance during the emergency, and recovery after waters recede, with the goal of providing rapid and comprehensive support to people across Provincial Police Region 2.
