Pattay: Pattaya City says it has surveyed about 70 rai of public land that meets the test for a national recovery project, and wants the ground used for a community recreation space once the boundary is certified.
The work follows a Ministry of Interior assignment to the Land Department for fiscal year 2025: manage public-benefit land that has been encroached, as part of a rural-poverty programme. Banglamung district was told to coordinate with Pattaya City, survey plots that qualify, and propose a use that serves the public. The city said the survey found about 70 rai. It has been looking at how to divide and design the site so vacant, overgrown land can take recreation and activities for children, teenagers, and the neighbourhood.
The plot is not yet certified. The city said it is still moving through Land Department procedure for a Nor Sor Lor, the document used to mark the boundary of public land, and is still discussing what the site should be used for. A Nor Sor Lor is not a private title. It records land that remains public property and sets the line so later occupation can be challenged.
The release did not name the soi, the community, or any occupier, and it did not give a date for the survey or a budget for the park. Pattaya has reclaimed smaller public strips before. In March 2025 the city reported taking back occupied frontage near Wat Tham Samakkhi and beside Wat Krathing Thong in Jomtien, and said it was still in court over an 11-rai plot at Ban Sukhawadi. Those cases were not identified as part of this 70-rai survey.
