PATTAYA: Pattaya showcased the growing role of drone technology in emergency response on Thursday with a competition that simulated search-and-rescue missions at sea.
The event took place at 4 p.m. on September 24th, 2026, on the beach in front of the Royal Cliff Beach Hotel. Competitors used unmanned aerial vehicles to carry out mock missions locating and assisting people in distress at sea. Deputy Mayor of Pattaya City Kritsana Boonsawat attended, watching the flights and following the teams’ operations closely.
Organizers designed the contest to apply drone technology to real-world emergency scenarios. Participants were tested on flight control, mission planning, and the ability to adapt when conditions changed suddenly.
Officials said the competition was more than a skills contest. It demonstrated how drones can support coastal and maritime safety work by helping responders reach an incident site faster and assess conditions from the air.
The activity forms part of broader efforts to use modern technology to improve search-and-rescue performance and strengthen safety measures in Pattaya’s popular marine tourism areas.
