Pattaya: A police oversight committee donated food, water, and medicine on Friday morning for people hit by flooding, with Pattaya City taking the supplies on for the province to distribute.

Amporn Kaewsaeng and members of the inspection and monitoring committee for Pattaya City Police Station made the handover in front of Pattaya City Hall on October 9th. Deputy mayors Kritsana Boonsawat and Damrongkiat Phinitkan received the goods.

The donation comprised 300 packs of drinking water, 10 cases of cup noodles, 10 cases of instant rice porridge, five cases of milk, 10 cases of snacks, one case of anti-allergy and anti-itch medicine, and other necessities. The committee put the value at more than 30,000 baht.

Pattaya City said it will send the supplies to Chonburi province, which will distribute them to affected households. The city did not name the districts that will receive them.

Chonburi was among the provinces flooded in late September. In Banglamung, the canal overflowed into three communities and more than 250 homes, with water up to about 1.5 metres in places. Residents called it the worst flooding in 30 years.

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation later listed eight flooded districts in the province, including Banglamung and Sri Racha, and opened registration on October 2nd for household compensation covering floods from May 15 to September 30 in 65 provinces and Bangkok. Chonburi is on that list. The cash aid is separate from this donation.
