Pattaya: Pattaya City Police, Chonburi Immigration and Banglamung district officials inspected the massive Siam Legend construction site in South Pattaya on October 20th to verify foreign workers’ documents and work permits. Not a single issue was found and police publicly complimented the site and management for following Thai law.

The check took place at about 11:00 a.m. under Pol. Col. Anek Srathongyu, Superintendent of Pattaya City Police Station, together with Pol. Lt. Col. Thanet Saenghiran, Pol. Maj. Chawalit Suwannamanee and Bang Lamung District Chief Clerk Pichannon Thaweesuk. The force included patrol officers from Pattaya City Police (operational unit 3), station investigators, Chonburi Immigration officers and district administrative staff.

At the Siam Legend project in South Pattaya, officers reviewed foreign workers’ identity documents and work permits. The inspection was conducted under the Emergency Decree on Managing the Work of Aliens and relevant immigration laws. Officials instructed the contractor and site supervisors to screen every worker’s documents strictly before employment in order to prevent illegal entry, forced labor and human trafficking, consistent with the national “5 Free” policy that includes freedom from human trafficking and overall safety.

The project cooperated with the document checks. Officers reported that the inspection proceeded in an orderly manner and that no violations were found during the visit and were pleased that the law was being followed.

Construction camps and sites remain a regular focus of multi-agency inspections in the Pattaya area because they bring together large numbers of foreign workers. An earlier check of a large camp in Soi Thepprasit, for example, confirmed that most workers held valid permits while recording some administrative reporting issues. Authorities have said such proactive visits will continue as part of efforts to maintain order in a growing tourist city.
