Pattaya: A motorcycle-taxi driver in Pattaya has reported that a sedan followed him and a female passenger through Soi Bongkot 3 before the driver lowered a window, shouted, and raised an object that looked like a gun.
Chaiya Srihaklang, 36, filed the complaint with investigators at Pattaya City Police Station on the evening of October 8th. He said the incident happened at about 2:17 a.m. on October 4th in Soi Bongkot 3.
He told police he had picked up a woman near Soi 6 on Beach Road and was taking her to a restaurant in the Soi Ko Phai area. On the way through Soi Bongkot, he said, a bronze four-door Chevrolet with no known plate came up behind them and accelerated toward the bike. He moved left to let it pass. He said it did not overtake and kept following.
The sedan then braked hard in front of him twice, he said. He stopped at the roadside because he no longer felt safe. The car pulled alongside, the driver lowered the window and shouted in a threatening way, then raised an object resembling a firearm and pointed it toward him. The spot was opposite a 24-hour moo kratha restaurant in the soi.
Chaiya said he got off the bike and used it as cover. The passenger ran from the scene. He said he does not know why the driver acted that way. He works nights and told officers the episode has left him worried about doing the job after dark.
Police recorded his description of the car and the driver. He asked them to pull closed-circuit images along the route and to trace the driver for questioning. No arrest was reported, and the complaint had not yet been matched to camera footage.
