PATTAYA, Chonburi: September 26th, 2026
The Pattaya Marathon 2026 opened Saturday morning in front of Terminal 21 Pattaya, with Chonburi Governor Naris Niramaiwong and Pattaya Mayor Poramese Ngampichet flagging off runners for the 10-kilometre race, 4.5-kilometre wheelchair event and 4.5-kilometre Fun Run despite light rain across the city.
The Tourism and Sports Office of Pattaya City organised the event. Mayor Poramese Ngampichet led the city’s executive team, including deputy mayors, city council members, working groups, department heads headed by the city clerk and deputy city clerks, along with government agencies, private-sector partners and sponsors.
Governor Naris Niramaiwong served as chairman of the opening ceremony and joined officials in sending off the first waves of Thai and international runners. The atmosphere remained lively even as light rain fell.
Mayor Poramese welcomed participants and thanked supporters. He described the marathon as an important activity that promotes exercise alongside sports tourism, adding colour to the city while stimulating the local economy and visitor arrivals.
After the ceremony, the governor and mayor joined the 4.5-kilometre Fun Run, running alongside participants and creating a friendly, energetic atmosphere along the course. Organisers said the gesture reflected the city’s emphasis on physical activity and public participation.
Later, Pattaya City executives presented awards to winners in various categories, congratulating runners and boosting morale amid a festive mood among competitors and spectators.
The event continues Sunday, September 27th, rain or shine, with the 21-kilometre half marathon and 42.195-kilometre full marathon. Organisers expect more Thai and foreign runners to test themselves on the course, reinforcing Pattaya’s identity as a Sport City and sports-tourism destination.
