PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya City joined Rotary members, runners, residents, and tourists on Saturday, October 24th, for the End Polio Beach Run, an event promoting awareness of efforts to eradicate polio and the importance of vaccination.
The event took place along Central Pattaya Beach as part of the End Polio Now campaign, marking the 35th anniversary milestone focused on by the organizers. Pattaya Mayor Poramese Ngampichet assigned Pattaya City Council Vice President Banjong Bantoonprapuk to preside over the opening ceremony.
This was to increase public understanding of polio prevention, encourage support for vaccination, and provide opportunities for Rotary members and the wider community to participate in activities benefiting society.
Activities included educational exhibition booths, a four-region Rotary fair showcasing regional products and offerings, and the End Polio Beach Run itself. The programme also featured live entertainment from Ramsun, Barry Upton, and the band Cowboy.
Organizers said the event represented another group effort to support the global campaign against polio while encouraging public service and community participation.
The beachside gathering also contributed to the atmosphere along Pattaya Beach, combining a public health awareness campaign with recreational activities and entertainment for residents and visitors.
