Pattaya: Heavy rain on the afternoon of October 19 caused flooding on Sukhumvit Road in South Pattaya opposite Lotuses department store, causing officials to close part of the left lane and slowing traffic.
The Pattaya News Reporters who checked the area around 3:00 p.m. found water accumulating on the road surface after continuous rain. The left lane was especially affected, leading officers to close sections of it to reduce risk. Vehicles moved slowly, and motorcycles and smaller cars faced particular difficulty. Pattaya City special affairs officers and municipal officers were on site directing traffic and helping motorists through the flooded stretch.
Drivers using the route are advised to reduce speed, keep a safe distance from the vehicle ahead, and avoid driving through water of unknown depth, which can damage engines. If water levels appear too high for safe passage, motorists should take alternative routes until conditions improve.
The Thai Meteorological Department’s forecast for October 19th said the Eastern region could see thunderstorms covering about 70 percent of the area, with heavy rain in some places. Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat were among the provinces under watch. Temperatures were forecast at 23–25 degrees Celsius overnight and 32–34 degrees during the day.
Looking ahead, the department expects thunderstorms over 60–70 percent of the Eastern region between October 19 and 23, with possible heavy rain in places. From October 21 to 25, rainfall is likely to increase across much of Thailand, including the East, with a chance of heavy to very heavy rain in some areas. Officials urged residents to monitor forecasts closely, as accumulated rain can lead to sudden flooding in low-lying spots and on roads that flood repeatedly.
