Sri Racha: The Chonburi Provincial Fisheries Office issued aquaculture licenses to 104 fishermen in Sri Racha district on October 22nd for controlled marine shellfish farming in public waters.
The ceremony took place at 1:30 p.m. in the meeting room of the Sri Racha Municipality Office. Si Racha Mayor Chatichai Timkrajang attended with Chonburi Provincial Fisheries Officer Natthaphong Wannaphat, Chonburi Fisheries Association President Sathitchat Timkrajang, the Sri Racha District Chief Clerk and municipal council members.
The licenses follow an announcement by the Chonburi Provincial Fisheries Committee that sets zones for controlled aquaculture, specifically marine shellfish farming. The permits allow the holders to farm in public fishing grounds that are state property.
Mayor Chatichai, who previously served as president of the Chonburi Fisheries Association, said he had helped advance marine shellfish farming by local fishermen to its present stage. He asked the recipients to follow fisheries regulations strictly. Any problems between operators, he said, should be resolved through discussion or with help from the current association president.
The issuance continues work on formalizing shellfish aquaculture in the district. In November 2025 the fisheries office and association held a seminar in Si Racha to explain the process for applying for sea mussel farming permits in public waters, covering quotas, timelines and requirements. No further details on the specific plots or conditions attached to the 104 new licenses were released.
