Pattaya: A Chinese man was injured on Thursday afternoon when his pickup truck skidded on a rain-slicked highway near Pattaya, struck a roadside barrier and overturned, leaving him trapped in the wreckage.

The crash occurred at about 2:30 p.m. on October 1st, 2026, on Highway 331 in the Khao Mai Kaew subdistrict. Rescue workers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan foundation in Pattaya were alerted that a pickup truck had rolled over and that the driver was trapped inside.

At the scene, officers found a bronze Mazda BT-50, lying on its roof with its wheels in the air. The vehicle was heavily damaged. The driver, identified as Liang, 37, a Chinese national, was still inside. He had a laceration to the head, a severe wound to his right arm and abrasions elsewhere on his body. Rescuers freed him, gave first aid and took him to hospital.

Witnesses said the pickup driver had been traveling in heavy rain when he lost control on the wet road, hit the barrier and flipped over, trapping the driver. Police were notified shortly afterward.

Pol. Lt. Col. Ruangsak Siribut, deputy investigation officer at Huai Yai police station, and other officers examined and photographed the scene. A tow truck was called to remove the vehicle. Investigators said they would review roadside CCTV footage to determine the cause of the crash.
