BANGLAMUNG, CHON BURI: A 21-year-old Bolt motorcycle rider was seriously injured and two Cambodian sanitation workers were hurt after the Bolt Rider driving a Honda motorbike crashed into the back of a Pattaya municipal garbage truck late Saturday night.
Police at Banglamung station received the report at 10:30 p.m. on September 5th. The crash occurred on the road running alongside the railway in the Khao Noi area of Nong Prue. Officers coordinated with Sawang Boribun Dhammasathan Pattaya volunteer rescuers, who responded to the scene.
Responders found a blue Honda PCX lodged in the rear of a Pattaya City garbage truck. The motorcycle was badly damaged. Its rider, Setthaphong Deepro, 21, a Bolt driver, was lying at the scene with serious injuries but was conscious and cognizant. Rescuers gave first aid before he was taken to a nearby hospital.
The garbage truck was driven by Narong Han-iam, 52, who remained at the scene to speak with police. Two unidentified Cambodian sanitation workers who had been collecting waste at the back of the truck suffered abrasions and pain in their arms and legs. They also received first aid and were sent to hospital.
Setthaphong told police officers he had been riding along the railway road toward Khao Noi and did not notice the garbage truck working at the roadside. He struck the rear of the vehicle at full force.
The two workers said they and a colleague were lifting garbage onto the truck as usual when a motorcycle approached at speed, hit the back of the truck and struck them.
Police documented the scene, collected evidence and said they would review nearby CCTV footage to establish the sequence of events before proceeding under the law.
