– The district has registered 5,281 public motorcycle drivers and set up 554 official waiting stations, with rules for removing stations or drivers who do not comply.

– After training, a parade of riders in the new blue vests was held to publicize the change.

Banglamung: Banglamung district has begun replacing the traditional orange vests of public motorcycle taxi drivers with blue ones, covering more than 5,000 registered riders, in a move officials say will sharpen the area’s tourism image and make legitimate drivers easier to identify.

Chonburi Deputy Governor Pongsith Pijanan chaired the opening of the event, titled “Organizing Motorcycle Taxis to Promote Tourism in Banglamung District, Chonburi,” at Alcazar Pattaya. Chief Anusak Phiriyamon, Pattaya City Police Superintendent Pol. Col. Anek Sathongyu, Banglamung traffic inspector Pol. Lt. Col. Chakrit Jantakham, local officials, and drivers attended.

The change follows a November 20th, 2025, resolution of the Chonburi provincial local subcommittee for the Banglamung area. That meeting agreed to switch the vest color from orange to blue and to standardize waiting stations. The district has established 554 official motorcycle-taxi stands and registered 5,281 public motorcycle drivers. It has also published criteria for canceling stands and removing names from the driver list when rules are broken.

After drivers completed training on the regulations, a procession of motorcycles with the new blue vests was released to raise public awareness. Officials said the blue color is meant to look modern, support the tourism image, and give residents and visitors clearer confidence about safety and legitimacy.

Orange vests have long been the visual marker of Pattaya-area win motorcycle taxis. The color has also been used by people who are not registered drivers. In January, CCTV showed a man in a motorcycle-taxi vest stealing a bag from a parked bike outside a convenience store in Soi Kor Phai; police treated it as part of a series of similar thefts by someone posing as a win rider.

The district has not said how quickly all 5,281 drivers must switch or what penalties apply for continuing to wear orange after the changeover.
