BANGLAMUNG, Chonburi: The Banglamung District Red Cross Branch on Wednesday presented 60 pairs of eyeglasses to students under its “Clear Vision, Caring for Student Quality” project, designed at helping children with eyesight problems study and live more effectively.

The ceremony was held at the Banglamung District Community Hall. District Chief Anusak Phiriyamon, who also serves as president of the district Red Cross branch, presided. Among those attending were vice presidents Wilawan Hengtrakul and Angkana Khonjaem, Pattaya Patthamakun Hospital Director Wichai Thanasophon, local officials, representatives of Top Charoen Optical, teachers and students.

Anusak said the eyes are “like the windows of the heart” and essential tools for learning and daily life. A survey had found that some students suffer from vision problems that make it hard to see the blackboard, read books and take part in other activities.

“This project was created so students can have an equal chance of clear vision,” he said. He urged recipients to look after their glasses and use them to get the most out of their education.

The project seeks to correct vision problems so children can study and carry out everyday activities more efficiently, while also expanding educational opportunity and improving quality of life for young people in the district.

Pattaya Patthamakun Hospital provided eye examinations by ophthalmologists. Top Charoen Optical supplied the glasses. Screening began on August 28th, after which 60 pairs were produced for students who needed them, at a total cost of 59,050 baht. The glasses were presented to students from across Banglamung District at Wednesday’s ceremony.
