BANGLAMUNG, Chonburi: September 25th, 2026: Banglamung District Chief Anusak Phiriyamorn on Friday morning inspected flood-risk sites in Khao Mai Kaew after heavy rain triggered flash flooding along canals that straddle the Chon Buri–Rayong border and with more rain coming this weekend.
At 10 a.m., Mr. Anusak joined Khao Mai Kaew Municipality Mayor Jamnian Keetheepakun, municipal executives and council members, Subdistrict Headman Detchakit Keetheepakun, village heads and their assistants. The group surveyed Ban Phu Sai Canal and Hang Kaew Canal, areas that received runoff from recent downpours.
Officials said the visit was meant to assess ground conditions, drainage problems and damage, and to hear from local leaders and residents. The goal is a more systematic approach to flood prevention and faster, more targeted help for households already affected.
Mr. Anusak said the sites act as collection points for water and form a hydrological link between Chonburi and Rayong. Managing the flow, he said, will require close cooperation across agencies and provinces.
He directed officials to compile damage reports, map waterways and identify blockages so both emergency and longer-term measures can be set. The goal is to limit further harm to homes and farmland.
“All agencies must work closely together, with public safety and hardship as the first priority,” Mr. Anusak said. “If a high-risk spot is found or residents need help, act immediately and coordinate with neighboring jurisdictions so the response is consistent.”
Mayor Jamnian said the municipality is surveying flood-affected households, preparing relief kits and essential supplies, and assigning staff to monitor water levels, roads, drainage systems and damaged utilities. Repair and recovery work will be accelerated so residents can return to normal life as soon as possible.
“Khao Mai Kaew Municipality will use every resource possible to support residents, relief bags, damage surveys and coordination with other agencies,” Mr. Jamnian said. “We will not leave people who are suffering.”
Authorities said findings from the inspection will guide flood-mitigation plans. Weather and water levels will continue to be monitored closely in case of further heavy rain, with the goal of reducing losses in Khao Mai Kaew.
