CHONBURI, Thailand: Banglamung district officials are continuing efforts to provide financial assistance to residents affected by recent flooding, with 138 cases approved by the Prime Minister and another 14 awaiting resolution, according to information presented at a district-level meeting on Monday, October 12th.

District Chief Anusak Phiriyamorn chaired the third meeting of the Banglamung District Disaster Victim Assistance Committee at the Inthaphithak meeting room inside Banglamung District Office. The meeting focused on progress in assessing applications and coordinating compensation for households affected by flooding.

Officials reviewed supporting documents relating to flood damage, affected property, PromptPay payment details, identity verification and the correction of duplicate records in the government’s registration system.

Despite the 138 approved cases, 14 applications involving residents from Khao Mai Kaeo Subdistrict Municipality and Nong Pla Lai Subdistrict Municipality have yet to receive final approval and authorisation for assistance. District officials said they were coordinating with the relevant agencies to investigate and resolve the outstanding issues.

The main problems reportedly involve duplicate registrations and residential address details that do not match the information on applicants’ national identification cards. These discrepancies must be resolved before the remaining applications can proceed.

The committee also considered and certified lists of applicants whose qualifications and supporting documents were complete, allowing their cases to be submitted for assistance in accordance with the applicable regulations. The applications covered two people from Nong Prue Municipality, 125 from Laem Chabang City Municipality and 28 from Pattaya City.

The figures for these additional applications were reported separately from the 138 cases already approved. The district’s report did not specify the amount of financial assistance allocated to each applicant or provide a timetable for resolving all outstanding cases.

The review forms part of the continuing flood-recovery process across the wider Pattaya and Banglamung area. The Pattaya News has also reported on flood-relief operations in Chonburi, including assistance delivered to affected residents in Phanat Nikhom.

Banglamung officials are continuing to work with municipal administrations and other relevant agencies to correct incomplete or conflicting registration information, with the stated aim of ensuring that eligible residents can receive assistance under the applicable relief procedures.
