“Amazing Thailand Global Thai Silk Exhibition” Brings Thai Silk to the Fashion Runway Showcasing Creations by International Designers from Six Regions

ที่มา: The Pattaya News

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in collaboration with the Association of Thai Silk & Culture Promotions, organised a fashion show under the “Amazing Thailand Global Thai Silk Exhibition” project, with Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, presiding over the opening ceremony. The show presented Thai silk garments created by international designers, highlighting the beauty of Thai silk through cultural identities, traditions, and creative interpretations from different regions around the world.

The fashion show was one of the key activities of the project, held in conjunction with Thailand’s hosting of the 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group. The initiative aimed to showcase Thailand’s traditional craftsmanship and cultural heritage to international audiences. As part of the project, the Association expanded its collaboration with a global network of designers to create contemporary Thai silk fashion that reflects cultural diversity.

A highlight of the fashion show was the presentation of specially designed and tailored Thai silk garments by international designers from six regions: Asia, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, the Americas, and South America. The Association distributed Thai silk to its network of designers in more than 100 countries, inviting them to incorporate the cultural identities, traditions, and heritage of their respective countries into their designs. The resulting creations showcased the distinctive qualities of Thai silk through the diverse perspectives and creativity of designers from around the world.

Another significant aspect of the project was the selection of more than 500 metres of black Thai silk for the creation of contemporary garments. The colour black carries symbolic meaning associated with a period of mourning, paying tribute to Her Royal Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, as well as Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati Kromluangrajasarinisiribajra Mahavajrarajadhita. The project also introduced international designers to the stories and cultural significance of Thai silk, reflecting the role of fashion in connecting people and promoting cultural exchange.

The garments created under the “Amazing Thailand Global Thai Silk Exhibition” project were on display from 11–18 October 2026, on the 1st Floor and at Living Hall, 3rd Floor, Siam Paragon, offering the public and interested visitors an opportunity to experience international fashion creations inspired by the beauty of Thai silk.
