PATTAYA, Thailand: A 14-year-old girl heard what sounded like an explosion late Sunday night, stepped outside, and discovered a fierce fire tearing through the neighboring townhouse. She quickly evacuated her 5-year-old brother, their 96-year-old grandmother, and six cats before flames could spread further.

Pattaya disaster prevention officials received the report at 10:30 p.m. on September 6th, 2026, of a fire at house number 413/123 in Suphamit Village, Soi Bongkot. Firefighters and supporting agencies were dispatched immediately.

The blaze broke out in a row of attached townhouses numbering more than 50 units. Flames burned intensely inside the affected home and spread across the roof. Three fire engines arrived and crews poured water onto the structure while neighbors rushed to move pets from nearby houses. Firefighters brought the fire under control in about 30 minutes. No injuries were reported.

The teenage girl, who lives next door, said she had been in her room with her younger brother when she heard the explosion-like sound. She went to look, saw the fire, and immediately led her brother and grandmother Thong Sai Thongree, 96, out of the house. Neighbors helped her carry a Persian mother cat and her six kittens to safety. The grandmother was shaken by the incident.

The homeowner, Pimphat Wright, 46, said no one was inside when the fire started. She had been at work and her foreign partner had gone out to exercise. After learning of the fire she hurried home and managed to get two dogs out, but the intensity of the blaze prevented her from retrieving other belongings.

Police from Pattaya City Police Station later arrived to examine the scene, collect evidence, and determine the cause of the fire.
