Traditional longboat racing is scheduled to take place at Khao Tao Reservoir in Hua Hin on 12 and 13 December 2026.
The dates were outlined by Hua Hin Municipality’s Tourism and Sports Division during a City Development Strategy Committee meeting on 6 October, chaired by Mayor Nopporn Wutthikul.
Longboat racing is part of Thailand’s cultural heritage, combining teamwork and competitive sport with traditions passed down through generations. Previous races at Khao Tao Reservoir have attracted enthusiasts and spectators from across the region.
The meeting also heard updates on improvements to Phon King Phet Park and the construction of a floating pumping platform at Pranburi Dam.
Phon King Phet Park improvements reach 60%
Work to improve the public activity plaza at Phon King Phet Park was approximately 60% complete at the time of the meeting, according to the municipality’s Engineering Bureau.
The bureau said it would press the contractor to speed up construction, with the aim of completing the work in time for the New Year festivities.
The completion date remains a target, with construction still under way.
