Hua Hin municipal officials have outlined plans to repair railings, replace damaged or missing lights and improve cleanliness around Khao Tao Reservoir following complaints from residents.
Mayor Nopporn Wutthikul chaired a meeting on Tuesday, 27 October, after the municipality received a written complaint about damaged railings, litter, dog faeces, lighting problems and disorder around the reservoir.
The Engineering Bureau will coordinate with the Royal Irrigation Department to repair damaged stainless steel railings to reduce the risk of injuries. Municipal staff will also install replacement lights where existing fixtures are damaged or missing.
Improvements are planned for the lakeside pavilion, which officials will monitor to prevent people from using it as a permanent place to live.
Municipal enforcement officers have been assigned to inspect pavements occupied by tents and ask those responsible to stop setting them up around the reservoir.
The Public Health and Environment Division will assign staff to remove soil and sand along the stretch between the entrance to the Khao Tao community and Wat Khao Tao. Staff will also collect rubbish from the water and clean the surrounding area regularly.
Signs will be installed asking people to refrain from fishing in the reservoir, with officials explaining the request to local residents.
The mayor also instructed the Office of the Municipal Clerk to organise a Big Cleaning Day on Tuesday, 3 November, starting at 9am. Municipal staff will be assigned to take part, and other municipal employees will be invited to join the clean-up.
