Heavy rain and rough seas warning for Prachuap Khiri Khan

ที่มา: Hua Hin Todayอ่านแล้ว: 1

Prachuap Khiri Khan has issued a warning for heavy rain and rough seas through Sunday, 20 September, with all districts ordered to prepare round-the-clock assistance for residents.

Governor Sitthichai Sawatsaen instructed district chiefs, local administrative organisations and relevant agencies to prepare for flash floods, forest runoff and localised flooding. The warning covers 16–20 September.

Forecasts from the Thai Meteorological Department and the Office of the National Water Resources indicate that cold air spreading from China will push the monsoon trough southwards across lower Central Thailand, the East and the upper South.

A strengthening southwest monsoon is also expected to increase rainfall, with heavy to very heavy rain in some areas. Prachuap Khiri Khan is among the provinces identified as being at risk.

Waves in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand are forecast to reach 2–3 metres, exceeding 3 metres during thunderstorms.

Heavy rain could force tourist site closures

Authorities have been instructed to monitor weather conditions and areas at risk of flooding and mudslides.

If heavy rain affects natural tourist attractions, particularly caves and waterfalls, officials must issue warnings, close the sites and prohibit entry. Staff must be assigned to monitor conditions 24 hours a day.

Officials have been ordered to issue warnings and prohibit swimming during periods of strong winds and high waves. Mariners and passenger boat operators must exercise increased caution. Authorities will consider banning boats from leaving shore if conditions worsen.

Local administrative organisations, subdistrict chiefs and village heads must prepare temporary shelters, food, drinking water and essential supplies so residents can be evacuated immediately if necessary.

Anyone affected by flooding or needing assistance can contact their district Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Operations Centre, or call 032 602 061 or 032 604 572, available 24 hours a day.
