Flash flood warning issued for Prachuap Khiri Khan

ที่มา: Hua Hin Todayอ่านแล้ว: 1

Prachuap Khiri Khan authorities have issued an urgent flash flood warning for 23–27 September, covering Hua Hin and the rest of the province, with strong winds and rough seas also expected.

The provincial disaster prevention and mitigation command issued the notice, marked “Most Urgent”, on Wednesday, 23 September.

Deputy Governor Preeda Sukjai, acting on behalf of the governor, said it followed alerts from the Thai Meteorological Department and the Office of the National Water Resources.

The notice cites a strong low-pressure system moving from the coast of central Vietnam across north-eastern, eastern and central Thailand, alongside a strengthening south-west monsoon.

Waves in the upper Gulf are forecast to reach 2–3 metres, rising above 3 metres during thunderstorms.

Flood monitoring and beach safety measures

Under the flash flood warning, district and local authorities must monitor runoff, mudslides and localised flooding. Natural attractions, including caves with streams, must be closed if risks are identified, with access blocked and staff keeping a 24-hour watch.

Coastal authorities must install warning signals and prevent tourists from entering the sea during strong winds and high waves.

Officials have been instructed to coordinate with the Marine Department, Royal Thai Navy and Marine Police to warn small boats and vessel operators to exercise caution. They should consider preventing boats from leaving shore if conditions worsen.

Districts must prepare temporary shelters stocked with food, drinking water and essential supplies, and immediately report severe conditions to provincial authorities and the central warning centre to coordinate assistance.
