Police dogs and their handlers will compete in the BPP K-9 Challenge 2026 in Cha-am from Friday, 16 October, with free admission throughout the three-day event.
Organised by the Border Patrol Police Bureau, the competition runs until Sunday, 18 October, at the Police Dog Training Centre, Rama VI Camp, in Phetchaburi.
Visitors can watch teams demonstrate the speed, accuracy, quick thinking and coordination required for police work.
What to expect at BPP K-9 Challenge 2026
Border Patrol Police Commissioner Pol Lt Gen Rungroj Thakurapunyasiri said on 13 October that the competition would assess obedience, concentration, responses to commands and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
The tests reflect skills used in operational duties, including tracking, searches and locating people or objects. These tasks combine the dogs’ sharp senses with their handlers’ training and experience.
The commissioner said trust between dogs and handlers was central to their performance, developed through regular training and shared discipline.
“In this K-9 competition, victory is measured by more than speed or strength,” he said.
The public is invited to watch the competition and support the teams. Entry is free on all three days.
