TAK: Customs officers have seized 1,000 second-hand Apple phones worth more than 7 million baht suspected of being smuggled into Myanmar.
Mae Sot Customs officials from Customs Region 3 joined troops from the Ratchamanu Task Force to patrol the Moei River in tambon Tha Sai Luat, Mae Sot district, to prevent illegal cross-border trade on Oct 17.
During the operation, officers found the phones awaiting shipment out of Thailand. No one claimed ownership, and no sales records or customs clearance documents were found.
The entire consignment was seized as evidence as authorities investigate to identify those involved. Officials said the suspected offence involved exporting goods without completing the required customs procedures, in violation of the Customs Act.
